Dr. Shawnee Basden completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Boston University, where she was awarded the Martin Luther King Research Fellowship to investigate the relationship between drug use, learning, and neuropsychological functioning. She went on to complete her pre-doctoral internship at Brown University Medical School, working primarily in military hospitals with returning veterans diagnosed with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and traumatic brain injury. Dr. Basden later spent three years at the University of Oxford in the Department of Psychiatry, completing post-doctoral training and further developing her expertise in neuropsychology and adult mental health.

Dr. Basden works full-time at Solstice as Manager of Adult Services, providing clinical leadership for the adult mental health team and overseeing the development of evidence-based assessment and treatment pathways. She works with adults and older adults presenting with a wide range of mental health and neuropsychological concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, cognitive change, and adjustment to physical illness or injury.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Basden delivers a range of trainings and workshops for agencies, clinicians, and corporate organizations. Her sessions focus on highly relevant workplace and wellbeing topics such as burnout prevention, distress tolerance, resilience, managing anxiety and low mood, psychological safety, and supporting mental health in professional settings. These interactive programs are tailored to the needs of each organization and are designed to equip teams with practical, evidence-based strategies that can be applied in everyday working life.

Dr. Basden has extensive experience in multidisciplinary medical settings, including rehabilitation services, dementia assessment and treatment, and specialist programs for eating disorders in adolescents. Her approach is integrative, compassionate, and grounded in best-practice psychological interventions.

Dr. Basden offers comprehensive psychological assessment and therapy at Solstice and has specialized training in the treatment of anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury, neurocognitive disorders, and eating disorders. She is committed to strengthening adult mental health services in Bermuda through high-quality, accessible, and collaborative care.
