Dr. Kristy Potter

Senior Clinical Psychologist

Dr Kristy Potter is registered as a Clinical Psychologist in both Bermuda and United Kingdom. She gained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nottingham and also has a Masters in Rehabilitation Psychology alongside a strong academic background including internationally-recognised peer reviewed publications. Kristy has worked in a variety of public health settings in the UK including the Ministry of Defence where for 18 months she led the inpatient brain injury neuropsychology service. During this time she also worked extensively with those who have experienced trauma including PTSD in both combat and non-combat settings.

Kristy has special interests in working with individuals who have long-term health conditions, and also in work-related stress and supporting people to thrive in the workplace. She also works with families / systems as well as the individual. 

Kristy has worked with people who are Neurodiverse and has particular strengths in neuropsychological testing, within a brain injury population as well as with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or ADHD with both adults and children.

Kristy’s main therapy model is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and she also draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). During her doctoral studies, Kristy had additional training on Systemic (Family) Therapy and can work with children, adults, older adults, and families, as well as supporting both paid and informal carers. She uses Narrative Exposure Therapy, which is exceptionally helpful in addressing issues associated with trauma.

Kristy works with a range of issues and life problems, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, social anxiety, confidence, bereavement and trauma. She has specialist skills in working to promote adjustment to long-term health conditions and associated emotional issues, such as low mood, anxiety and grief. 

Kristy is also available for teaching, training or supervision.
