Senior Clinical & Liberation Psychologist
Dr Jade Templer is a British Clinical and Liberation Psychologist Registered in both Bermuda and the United Kingdom. She gained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London. She has developed her specialism in working with young people and families from underprivileged and oppressed communities utilising liberation and empowerment models of therapy. Jade has worked across a range of public, private and charity sector contexts, including the award-winning charity MAC-UK. Jade also has a specialist interest in systems change and community participation. She teaches doctorate students and researchers on Participatory Action Research and how to create Anti-Racist and Decolonialised Research and Clinical Practice.
Jade is passionate about creating a safe, person-centred, meaningful therapeutic space to work through life’s challenges. Jade is a warm, adaptable and attentive psychologist who believes in creating this therapeutic journey together. She values the importance of seeing a person within their context and the historical and cultural reasons that may have brought them to this moment. She searches for the strengths within people and supports them to live the kinds of meaningful lives they would like. She is passionate about challenging injustices in the world alongside people, and keeps in mind the potential impact of social and interpersonal inequalities.
Jade takes an Integrative approach to wellbeing where she draws on a broad range of therapy modalities from around the world. This includes working with children, adolescents and adults, families, and couples, and supporting the systems around us such as schools, workplaces, and the community. Jade’s main therapy approaches are Narrative Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mentalization Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Therapy, and the Tree of Life. She also draws from Liberation Psychology which includes working with Power, Critical Consciousness and Social Action.
Jade offers therapeutic support to people with a broad range of difficult experiences, whether it be traumatic life events, experiences of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, feeling lost, exploring identity, challenges with relationships or family dynamics, difficulties in the context around us or many other things that can make life difficult.
ade also provides supervision, reflective practice, consultation and teaching/training with professionals.
